I don't think the Church has ever been faced with this scenario, but it's bound to happen sooner or later, especially considering the average age of the senior apostles.
Hypothetical: Let's say that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet. Boyd K. Packer is next in line to be president of the Church. However, President Packer is in a vegetative state. President Monson dies. What happens? Does the Quorum of the 12 pass on President Packer? |
