Default Anyone made a SLC to Chicago drive before?

The guy I work for right now called and asked me if I'd drive the company car out there to Chicago, then spend 1-2 days there for meetings. Then they'd fly me back to SLC.

Not sure if I want to do this, but might be a fun roadtrip by myself for a few days. Driving in parts of the country I've never been before....but I'm apprehensive.

As long as you don't wear any Cubs gear in the South side or any White Sox gear around Wrigley, you'll be fine.

I'd do it. It sounds fun. If it's not a good time, it's a good story.

I've done that drive. Eastern Wyoming and Western Nebraska are pretty desolate along I-80.

It's desolate, but I love it. I've driven it numerous times and I've seen maybe 5 or 6 cops in those two states. As soon as you hit Iowa and Illinois, you can't drive ten minutes without seeing a cop.

I've done it. I'd never been east of Wyoming in a car prior to that trip and I loved it. Wyoming is ugly but once you hit Nebraska it's a fun trip.

Umm, really? I guess if your really love corn.... I've never driven all the way to Chicago, but have several times driven from SLC to Springfield, MO. I guess that after so many miles in WY, anything has to look good by comparison.

I just discovered the car doesn't have a CD player in it.

20 hours of driving is a hell of a long trip with no tunes to accompany you, especially when you're by yourself.

Do you have an ipod? If so, download a couple of audiobooks and you can get an FM modulator for pretty cheap. If not, you can hear some hilarious local AM radio. At night you can pick up signals from all across the US.

I love green. Out west nothing stays green past June. I thought it was amazing that once you hit Nebraska the nation is green in August all the way out to the East coast.
