Brian has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default PBS Special

today in sac. meeting, they announced the PBS program and said they would be handing out some sheets with how to deal with some of the material. Is this a churchwide deal, or just something in our stake?

Today in ward council meeting our bishop held up a letter (didn't read it) from church headquarters addressing the program and telling everyone to get the word out that it was not produced by the church. Supposedly it has some "negative" content. I raised my hand and said, "If there is some much negative content in the program, why on earth are they afraid that anyone would think it is produced by the church?". I got a lot of blank stares.

Why does the Church believe nonMormons will produce hagiographic materials?

Does the Church believe the world will act as its PR boy?

I read the letter today. It simply says that the church gave access but did not produce the special. They anticipate that there will be some questions about some of the controversial items covered. It was a heads up for leadership to expect questions from those they serve as well as for all members to expect questions from non member friends. They specifically mentioned Mountain Meadows and polygamy among other things as subjects that might prompt questions. It was nothing more than that.

Here's the latest from the lds.org newsroom page. Sounds like it will be an interesting piece.

It would be interesting if these topics were addressed in church as a response to the special.

Might liven up Gospel Doctrine.

I would actually go to Sunday School.

I read the Sunday School lesson in about five to ten minutes so I don't have to listen to people mispronounce basic names and act as if they had never opened scripture before in their lives.
