Default Could scholarship motivate leaders to seek revelation on matters?

Now, outsiders would see any revelations skeptically, if they were motivated by scholarship. But if we were more open to scholarship, and it resulted in revelations as to policy and procedure, would the general membership accept it?

IIRC, in the McKay biography, there were times that the FP and the Qo12 commissioned research on a topic (often by one of the apostles).

It goes along with the commandment that we search things out and study them before we take them to the Lord.

I would think there's a difference between solicited and unsolicited research as far as what the powers-that-be would be using for consideration.

I don't believe leadership is likely to consider it, given its current cultural heritage, but I wonder how it would impact us.

The rank and file would probably accept it, as another means inspired to bring truth and light to us, with which I would agree.
