Default Does BYU add enough to merit inclusion in Big XII?

The SLC market would tend to say hmm, I don't know.

However, if they realized that BYU has majority interest in SLC, a good minority interest in Phoenix, Las Vegas and even Denver, might that be sold as something in favor?

BYU has done okay on a spartan budget.

BYU is by far the most compelling addition to a BCS conference in terms of $. Moreso than Utah.

But that doesn't mean they meet the economic threshold of inclusion.

Big 12 doesn't have a big incentive to expand right now.

The only merit that matters for being included in a BCS conference is money. As fans of a school from a non AQ conference we get caught up on how good a team is and on shooting for AQ status. The Big 12 already has AQ status and is not in danger of losing it any time soon.

That is why I continue to hold to the idea that when the Big 12 expands, they will go east--greater population and media coverage. I know the Memphis fan base is begging for inclusion in the Big 12. Northern Illinois with its Chicago market might stand a better chance than BYU to get a Big 12 invite.

If the Pac 10 wasn't so geographically limited, Utah would never have been invited. I would love to see BYU in the Big 12, but after what happened this year, I am afraid the business side will keep BYU out.
