Default I guess you can at least admire their tenacity.

I love the birthers. I hope they keep this up forever, or at least until you can't say "birther" without thinking "Republican."

I have no memory of my birth.

That I was born in the USA is entirely based on faith--that my parents are telling me the truth, and that there is a birth certificate I have seen saying as much that bears the marks of authenticity. It's not an electronic reprint from 2 years ago.

If my parents committed fraud to make it seem that I was born in the USA--well, I would have no reason to suspect it. But if I am honest, I can say that I really don't have that much concrete evidence that I was born in the United States.

Yet somehow, Obama, has a certitude that is solid as a rock. As far as I know, the only evidence are electronic records of a birth certificate and the blurb in the Hawaiian paper.

Let's just play a game for a sec. What if it turns out he was born outside the USA. What happens? I think it goes to SCOTUS, and SCOTUS overrules the literal interpretation of the Constitution.

Do you honestly think it is easy to "commit fraud" to change your place of birth? If it would be hard for your parents to do with you, how much harder would it be if your parents were in Kenya at the time of your birth?

Of course he has certainty he was born in the US. So do I. If you don't (because you are leaving open the possibility that your parents lied to you, fabricated public announcements, conspired with all your relatives who visited you in the hospital, falsified your birth certificate, published false accounts in the local newspaper, and destroyed all evidence of your actual birthplace including your real original birth certificate in such a way that the government of that nation can't ever locate it again), well- that is just insane.

I find it odd that Obama cannot produce a copy of his original birth certificate.

Not "cannot." He has produced a Certificate of Live Birth (widely available on the web). That is the Hawaii official document which demonstrates he was born in Hawaii. Original documents for Hawaii were destroyed in 2002 when they went to electronic records. I find it odd that you think this may be a conspiracy (with the foresight of his parents to even put announcements in local papers, thinking that maybe this African-American baby would one day be president).
