Default Honesty in EQ

On Sunday we did the last lesson in the JS manual. After reading some of the lesson together, the teacher asked people to share their thoughts on JS and his life. Most gave expected thoughts, but one guy, who i had pegged as a very Mullahish guy, said that he was really struggling with his testimony of JS. He said that he thinks the spirit has told him that JS was a prophet, but he knows that he was a human and made some really bad decisions and wasn't really sure what to make of him. I think that was the most honest comment I've heard in an EQ lesson in a long time. It's nice to be pleasantly surprised in a lesson, and even more nice when somebody bursts your expectations about them.

Tobias: You know, Lindsay, as a therapist, I have advised a number of couples to explore an open relationship where the couple remains emotionally committed, but free to explore extra-marital encounters.

Lindsay: Well, did it work for those people?

Tobias: No, it never does. I mean, these people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might, but...but it might work for us.

Church is supposed to be faith promoting, but in a real sense, so if we can have a balance of somebody such as this, it makes for refreshing insights.
