Default Republicans need a charismatic figure

with a coherent message. It can be a package of lies, but as long as it's believable, it will work.

but who?

Romney is without charisma.

Who is a Republican for the next generation, any ideas? It should be somebody from an urban community, with a potential for financing.

What message?

It should be linked to libertarianism, civil rights, populism, perhaps isolationism, what else?

Jindal may be the future of the party.

I'm not sure I like Arch's straight-charisma idea. Palin was charisma and she hurt the ticket.

I think Romney has plenty of charisma. Unfortunately, he's just a member of a weird cult.

No idea, but given Louisiana's colorful political history I can't imagine him not having a bit of a spark.

I don't find her charismatic, but I understand your point.

The reason a Republican must be charismatic is the inherent tension a Republican has vis-a-vis the media. Democrats wake up with the dominant media, sans Fox, on their side. They don't need to be charismatic.

But by being charismatic, I'm not stating they should be morons.

Romney is the polar opposite of charisma. Trust me on this one.

What? Palin is *all* charisma. Nothing more or less. Charisma is what had you and Seattle and who knows who else sold on her from day one.

Yes, the Rs need someone with a measure of rhetorical skills, but I don't want someone who is adored by throngs of weepy eyed followers (no offense to anyone here) like what I saw last night - that was embarrassing.
