I wonder if these AA teams name a punter so Louie doesn't get named as both K and P. I'm biased, but I honestly think Louie is the best punter in the country as well.

To be honest I probably name him 1st team punter before I name his 1st team kicker. I just looked and he is 19th in the country in punting, but 3rd in fieldgoals.

In all honesty, that would be my decision as well. But I think it's tough to not give him props for place kicking. Dude is nails.

How do you rate a punter? It's so much more than long punts.
If there was a good metric that measured the resulting badness of field position, that would be interesting.

Net average of punts.
# of times pinning the other team inside their own 20.

Stuff like that. In a sport where field position is as vital as it is in football, you gotta have a guy who can eliminate short field situations for the other team.

If there was one player I could take from the Utes it would be Louie Sakoda in a heartbeat. That guy is money. I cringe when Payne and Santiago come into the game. I fear that we'll lose a close one because of Payne sometime.
