Default This is a heartbreaking story

Mike Coolbaugh, the guy hit and killed by the foul ball last year.

The worst part is his kids don't get to know their dad. The thought of my kids growing up without me makes me sick to my stomach.

I agree that it is heart wrenching. A very sad situation.

I'm selfish enough to admit that I don't think about if I die, my kids would be growing up without me. I think more that I would hate to not be around as my kids grow up.

You're right, that's the best way to put it. But the thought that some other guy would be the one interrogating my daughter's first date, or taking my boys to ball games...ugh, it makes me sick.

A good friend of mine is married to a lady whose husband passed away in his sleep when he was 29. This guy is raising her kids and he's a great guy, but I still have to think about what their dad missed out on.

We are shaped by our experiences. My dad died when I was 4. So how it would for my kids is all I ever think about regarding that topic.

Excellent point. I can only relate what I feel by my own experience.

Hey but if you were in heaven, you could still watch over your kids and see them grow, and you could visit them when they sleep and other cute afterlife stories that you can read all about at Deseret Book for only $17.95.

My brother is in an almost the exact situation as your friend. His wife's first husband died at 27, leaving a 3 year old and 3 month old. The youngest has no memory of her father and considers my brother her dad. I'm definitely happy for my brother, and those kids are lucky to have him given the circumstances, but I can't help feel bad for the dad who won't get to see his children grow up.
