Riley Nelson
For you recruiting guys, is this a big get? It seemed like he played pretty well as a frosh at USU. How come he didn't come here in the first place?

Riley had a terrific career at Logan HS. The knock on him was his size. I have no idea how strongly BYU pursued him.

I don't think they really recruited him at all. They had their guys targeted and Nelson wasn't on the list. The kid is a real winner, though, and BYU sees that. Should be good for competition. It makes Ute fans mad, so that's always a plus.

His senior year, he only lost
to the eventual 5A state champions, Alta. He beat Skyline and clobbered Lark's team in the 4A state championship game.

I don't like missionaries transferring IF...
1. The school has demonstrated a willingness to support those that wish to serve missions without losing their scholarship. 2. The school hasn't lost the head coach that was there when the player left on their mission 3. The school isn't on probation. If the above three conditions are met, I don't think it's fair of the missionary to turn their back on the school that was willing to accomodate their mission service. |
