I disagree with WhistlePig's attitude, but I especially love SIEQ jumping in there with some nice false analogies.
It's like the gay movement co-opting the blacks' civil rights arguments.

And why not? The situation is quite analogous.

It is why I have felt for a long time BYU is a very poor standard bearer for the church. How it operates and functions is far from the modern church. Can you see folks trying to shut down a Gold Gym as the face of the church and yet at the same time trying to justify illegal immigrants. |

You, SIEQ, and SeattleUte all have an affinity for screwy analogies.

If I am wrong, then I am wrong because the people I hang out with don't represent the whole but the few. Perception of BYU students. They are all moral, chaste, studious and bright. In other words the best the church has to offer. If they fail in these areas they are shipped off somewhere else to get back up to the high level of achievement. They are those that would be repulsed by my avatar for instance and see it as porn. Go to kids who grew up in Southern California and say BYU runs a clean program and UCLA and USC don't. They will ask what the heck you are talking about. Amongst BYU fans they will know exactly what you mean. Somehow the honor code has risen to the level of commandments in some minds and not rules. |
