Default Stimulus rebate

Will you be getting a rebate?

Quote:
The package, which passed the Senate 81-16, will send rebate checks to 130 million Americans in amounts of $300 to $600 for people who have an income between $3,000 and $75,000, plus $300 per child. Couples earning up to $150,000 would get $1,200.

Somewhere, FDR is smiling. What a joke.

I'm certainly not going to turn down the money, but I find the whole thing a joke. A bunch of stupid politicians trying to buy votes, doing something that is mostly only symbolic (yet actually damaging). It won't stave off a recession, but it will make us that much more in debt as a nation.

Idiots. And to think I voted for some of these morons. But I'm still not giving it back.

Combine this with the child tax credit, tithing deduction, and mortgage deduction and the gov't will be subsidizing all those Utah Mormons living beyond their means that FMCoug hates so much.

Yep. My effective Fed tax rate for 2007 will now drop even lower. It was already at about 9%.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

The third option is stupid. Borrow from future generations? Why would anyone send it back when the gov't wastes so much money every year. Government waste is killing future generations FAR more than these rebates.

For those that make too much money to qualify:

Do you file as an individual or a couple?

If as a couple, does your spouse work also?

I take it you are among us riff-raff that will be receiving a rebate.
