Default Teaching of Joseph Smith manual in RS/Priesthood next year

Apparently the manual for RS and Priesthood in 2008 is the teachings of Joseph Smith.

I can't wait until every week CG'ers come home and complain about how the lesson didn't focus on his polygamy.

I think the manula looks quite good. ANy review should bear in mind that it is a church manual and not a history book. In general, however, I think it will be likely to lead to good discussions.

I'm given to believe that this is a new manual. I at least am quite curious to see what it will contain.

I thought it was interesting that in my brief perusing of the chapters, there are no quotes from Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Any self-respecting CG'er EQ instructor will burn that book and mingle Brodie with Bushman.

I picked up a copy at the Distribution Center last month. It is huge: 586 pages, and about an inch thick.

What, if anything, do you infer from that?

That Joseph Fielding Smith was a gullible shmuck who stepped way out of line.

In all seriousness, I don't know if some of the manual and the TPJS share some of the same source material? It's hard for me to believe they'd leave everything in TPJS out, but maybe so.

It's been a month or two since I looked through the manual. What are the primary sources, anyone remember?
