Default George Will on Huckabee

It seems Mike Huckabee is filling the void left by Sam Brownback.
Quote:
On the Republican side, Mike Huckabee's candidacy rests on serial non sequiturs: I am a Christian, therefore I am a conservative, therefore whatever I have done or propose to do with "compassionate," meaning enlarged, government is conservatism. And by the way, anything I denote as a "moral" issue is beyond debate other than by the uncaring forces of greed.
....
Many Iowans think it would be wise to nominate a candidate who, when the Republicans were asked during a debate to raise their hands if they do not believe in evolution, raised his. But, then, Huckabee believes America can be energy-independent in 10 years, so he has peculiar views about more than paleontology.
...
Although Huckabee is considered affable, two subliminal but clear enough premises of his Iowa attack on Mitt Romney are unpleasant: The almost 6 million American Mormons who consider themselves Christians are mistaken about that. And -- 55 million non-Christian Americans should take note -- America must have a Christian president.

I saw this in yesterday's DesNews. I enjoyed the little shot Will took at everyone who has a problem with Romney's religion by pointing out that this country was more enlightened 100 years ago.

Huckabee pushed Brownback out and consolidated all the attention of the religious conservatives.

And BTW George Will is a dick. And most of his columns are unreadable.

You really think so? I think he is one of the few people who consistently says something original. I respect Will.

I didn't realize that Romney had fallen behind Huckabee and McCain. Wasn't he 2nd to Giuliani for quite a while?

I don't like him much mostly because I think he is a crank. Occasionally he is original, but mostly I think he is just impressed with his own learnedness.

So, he's different than all other columnists.....how?

I like Will. I rarely understand what the hell he's talking about, but I like him.

I'm one of the 55 million who has taken note and is scared of Huckabee.

George Will is da man. A true conservative.

Huckabee is what Romney would be if fears about him governing by religion were accurate.

Romney is an opportunist, but he's our opportunist. Whereas Huckabee is a crackhead. This would be the worst White House ever, and true Christians would be afraid to call themselves Christians after his presidency. Christians would start calling themselves "christists" to avoid being associated with him.
