Default With Bronco being thrown into the rumor mill at Nebraska

I have a question:

What would the fallout be if in the future Bronco interviews for another job?

Say that he declines that job, and decides to stay at BYU. Is that ok with BYU fans? Or would the fans say "I don't care if he didn't have an affair, HE THOUGHT ABOUT IT, which is kind of like justifying porn as looking but not touching!"

Having said that, I think in some ways Bronco would be a good fit with A&M. He would bring some mental toughness. He would quickly adopt the A&M ethos (and actually probably amplify it). Problem is that he is not a good ol' boy, and A&M likes their good ol' boys. Hence the love affair with Tuberville and those types.

I hope he stays, but I love that people want him.

My best guess is he's a lifer, but who knows.

I'm happy to have a coach wanted by programs higher in stature than ours, although I doubt he's being seriously considered. He needs a couple more 10-2 seasons.

I doubt BYU fans will get too upset if he interviews elsewhere. They'll realize that this is like going to a Melaleuca pitch meeting even though you're currently distributing for Neways. Even though you're happy with your current downline, there is nothing wrong with trying to get a little higher on the pyramid.

Is it still aTm tradition to take a trip over to La Grange to the Chicken Ranch as a rite of passage? I remember when Clayton Williams (candidate for Texas gov.) claimed as much while on the campaign trail.

Interviewing for big jobs is a good way for Bronco to sell himself and also sell the program. That was part of the Majerus mystique. Potential recruits assumed that since his name was constantly rumored for big jobs that he was a good coach.

Clayton Williams. Now there's a trip down memory lane. The "John Kerry" of Texas Republican gubernatorial candidates. 1990 was a tough voting year.

One wonders how the BYU-Big 12 story would've turned out, if he hadn't of handed the governorship to (ugh) Ann Richards on a gold platter.

the same, since it was apparently the Texas speaker of the house that was calling the shots.

BYU doesn't belong in the Big 12.

That was a campaign for the ages. The pinnacle of politics as theater. I miss Texas.

It would give me more fodder to throw at the folks that think Bronco is Saintly and therefor would never consider leaving BYU. Some of these people actually believe he would never leave because he couldn't do team firesides at another school.

I wouldn't have a problem with Bronco interviewing for a job at Nebraska. Every person has the right and probably owes it to themselves from time to time to see if they can better their situation financially and then after that, seeing if it's a fit.
