Default Priesthood/RS manuals

I have been EQ instructor for the past few years and I like the manuals. The topics can generate lively discussion and I really enjoy learning from and about previous prophets.

One thing I would really like is if the church put up audio clips corresponding with the quotes in the book. During the DOM year, I scoured the web and found a couple of his talks from which the relevant quotes were extracted. The quorum seemed to enjoy hearing his voice and listening to the direct quote as opposed to randomly calling on one of the three guys who brought the manual. It was also nice to get some more context around the quote, bringing up some interesting discussion. I don't think it would be too hard for the church to do it and it could really add to the quorum instruction.

what's the mechanism for this bottom-up suggestion? Is there a way members can inform the curriculum committee on how to improve?

The church has a web page where you can make suggestions. My wife has used it a couple of times regarding the curriculum and how it assumes the YW have too much Gospel knowledge sometimes and uses too much Mormon lingo.

I don't know the link, but I would assume you can find it on lds.org.

Next year's prophet of choice is Joseph Smith, and the manual has twice as many lessons, designed to last for two years instead of one. This gives you plenty of time to make your idea heard in time for the 2010 curriculum.

I used one of these links to make a suggestion about the stake/ward websites, and it was directed towards the stake webmaster. I thought that was funny.

"So Br. Waters, you think that the church website sucks and the servers that load one page an hour are too slow? (this used to happen every Sunday, that the server ground to a halt)."

It was a good lesson. I learned that there was a ceiling placed on my suggestions. It was instituted in a way to never escape my stake. Plus the stake got to find out who the troublemakers were.

Yes, this is well known. I was never given a position of responsibility in the church until my tithing donation doubled. I actually wondered if there was a connection.
