We had a family of seven
baptized yesterday and confirmed today. They're a nice middle class family, well-educated. They investigated for about two months and the entire family joined, all five children were baptized. After the confirmations, an unrelated baby blessing, sacrament, and a musical number by the RS Choir, only five minutes remained for the speaker. It was a very cool meeting and it amazingly finished on time.
I bet the Elders who taught the family are treated like superstars at the next Zone Conference. |

Except the Elders who are gunning for AP and think that numbers are more important than who baptized them.

Ha!
Word was that I became an AP so the Mission President could keep an eye on me. I heard that from his wife.

This is not nearly as cool as a family of 7, but in Sacrament meeting my son whispered in my ear "that kid over there looks like Preston in my kindergarten class." Well, it was Preston from school and his mom is getting baptized next Saturday. Our Primary is tiny and there are no boys my son's age so I am pretty stoked at the possibility of him having a church friend that he'll also get to see at school. As far as I know, my son is the only Mormon kid at his school.

You're right, it's pretty cool and I am thrilled. But it is definitely rare to have a family of seven join the church. My son's friend's mom will be the only one baptized. Her husband is not interested in the church. It will be tough for her to keep coming, I'm sure. Hopefully having a friend at church will help.
