A divorced prophet.
Will the Church ever have a prophet who has been divorced?
(I'm not including all the divorces that occurred in polygamous marriages in 19th century LDS Church which cost 5 dollars each.) |

I won't be alive if and when we do.
I actually kinda doubt it. Wait, we already did. Brigham Young had one or two of his wives divorce him., so the answer is yes.

I don't think it would be acceptable nowadays. On a side note, Brigham Young had a chalkboard on which he would write the name of the wife who was supposed to play hanky panky with him each night, and apparently his wives would erase their own names and write someone else's name instead. I have a friend who recently got divorced; his wife of 15 years up and walked out on him, and accused him of everything in the book including his trying to kill her. During the divorce process she was diagnosed as being clinically insane, and is not allowed to be around their 9 year old daughter.
He spent over $100k in legal fees trying to keep the house and obtain full custody, both of which he won (after four years) because of her diseased mind. He was also a temple worker, and his stake president told him after his divorce, that it was policy that he could not work in the temple for five years. Even though the divorce was not his initiation or his fault, as clearly evidenced by court and medical records, his calling was yanked. Does the church need a prophet who has experienced divorce and been a victim of the liberation of women? Absolutely. Note I am not saying that women's lib is a bad thing in and of itself, but rather it can be very hurtful to those who use it on the offensive. |

I can't say that I remember a single church friend or aquaintance divorcing. I think a couple that babysat me once in a while when I was about 4 divorced. And there was the guy that left his family for a guy in my homeward, but didn't really know him.
I would say the odds of a divorced prophet are pretty low. |
