Pitt was highly ranked as well in 1984, but you know the story. I think it has been obvious throughout this discussion that where a team finishes is what dictates the extent to which it was a good victory.

Hence, the data on whether or not UCLA qualifies is not yet available.

TCU last year was a quality win for both teams.

ASU in 1997 was for BYU.

The U had 3 quality wins in 1994. BYU, CSU and Oregon I believe.

UCLA was at home, BYU was 6-4 at the time, and there were like 5 GT fans at the Emerald Bowl or whatever bowl it was. They don't meet your "better opponent" and "hostile crowd" criteria.

When you played UCLA on the road, you lost.

As far as TCU, didn't you lose to them on the road? The Utes win was at SLC, IIRC.

Not trying to talk smack here. But I think it's pretty rare to beat superior opponents on the road. It's not just a BYU phenomenon.

I have a question for you, SU. What were you doing last Saturday during the Utah-UCLA game? Were you down at the sports bar enjoying the upset? Or were you doing something else?

You need to work on reading comprehension. I used my criteria as alternate factors ("and/or"). GT was ranked in the top 15. Has BYU done anything comparable to my examples?

But we know from your cycling posts you're a bad person.
