Default I am assuming ...

... catastrophic evolution, as mentioned, touches upon the ideas of Emanuel Velikovsky, no?

Is anything too hard for the Lord? Is there anything he cannot do? Does he have limitations in creating rain?

now but do you realize how much water youd need on the earth to cover the himalayan mountains?

if its a literal story the only way it is possible and not have the earth completely ruined is with snow/rain combo.

God can send fire to protect Nephi and Lehi without scarring them, why can't he cover the earth with water without uprooting everything?

and can he magically make every species of animal gather 2 by 2 to the arc?

how were animals from the artic getting to the arc? how were birds surviving 40 days with constant rain and no solid ground?

maybe the earth was noah's "ship" and the rain was something in space.

Default Looking at this literally, you will see that ...

... rain probably was not the biggest contributor of water. The account makes it appear the ocean waters were used as well. Isn't the earth about 70% water surface? That plus the rains and atmospherical moisture could provide plenty of water to cover all dry land at one moment. I am not saying it happened that way, just that there is enough water to get it done. Maybe if the mountains were completely wet and saturated with water, that was enough to claim the earth was completely covered with water (i.e., there was no dry ground). Still, if memory serves correctly, the Bible claims there was a certain amount of water above the land. But then, maybe that did not account for all the land of the earth, rather local areas. I do not know. I am just speculating how it could be done if it is completely literal.

Skousen's speculation (in The First 2,000 Years) is that the animals minds were quickened and they knew to come to the ark. Sometimes they innately know what to do, like how to care for their young.

I have thought about this before....

I think there may have been some geographical changes after the flood that may have created most of the larger mountain ranges...

My opinion though...
