Big Piney showed his mettle
and improved dramatically in his St. George Tri return, placing sixth in his age group. Cheers for a great race, Piney. He ran great.

Thanks, you didn't do so bad yourself. 4th in your age group. If you would have been able to run, then you easy would have been at least third.
I am still slow on the bike, guess I know what I need to work on most. How do I get faster on the bike?

Bike. Bike hard up hills, bike hard on flats, and hurt yourself. I am just rounding into cycling shape and just decided Thursday last to do the race so my results were to be expected.
I will be throwing some fast tempo runs, but I never run well in sand. I'm a pavement guy all the way. You should be impressed with how you fared.

I was very happy with the run. I couldn't believe that I ran a 7:02 pace in that sand, and I was feeling good when I finished, could have gone harder, but didn't want to run out of gas.
I was 1 mph faster on the bike this year from last, but not near what I had hoped. Time to actually work a bit.
