water softener help
we are looking at getting a water softener but I don't want to break the bank in the process. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get a good softener at a good price. (I live in UT by the way) any suggestions would be great.

We just bought a water softener. You can buy one at Sears in the $350-700 range. My biggest problem was the quality of them...they probably won't last more than 5 years but if you plan on moving in a few years, that is probably not that big of a deal. I also did not like the all-in-one which is the electronics, etc. as well as the salt and water all in one tank.
I ended up getting a Culligan which will run you $1100--1600. The installation is included. I signed up to have it deducted monthly over the course of a year with no interest charge. I really like it...but Culligan is on the higher end of quality and price. |

In Utah, R&M Manufacturing makes a lot of different systems. They are involved at a lot of different levels - they manufacture components, put systems together from other manufacturers components, manufacture systems for other retailers, act as a distributor, etc.
We had a Pure-Tel twin tank model with an electronic timer in our old house and it worked great for the seven years we were in the house. In our current house we have a cheaper single-tank model (also made by R&M) but after only a few months I wish we had purchased the better model. The cheaper single-tank model goes through more salt and seems more fragile and I doubt it will last us as long as that other model would have. I would go to their website and look at the various models. If you give them a call they can put you in touch with the many local distributors that sell and install their systems. |
