Default China, the biggest consumer of porn in the world

Pornography Big Business on the Web
Worldwide revenue from pornography amounted to at least $97 billion in 2006, according to the Internet site TopTenReviews.com. In a review of software filters, the website claimed that more than $3 million is spent on pornography every second. Although most pornographic films and photographs available on the Internet are produced in the U.S., the Chinese were the biggest buyers, spending $27.4 billion last year, the website said. The U.S. was fourth on the list with $13.3 billion, followed by South Korea, with 25.7 billion, and Japan, with $20 billion. The website surveyed only the top 20 countries.

I'm curious to see a breakdown per capita, because the U.S. would surpass China in that sense.

but when you factor per capital income, and percent income going toward porn, I'm sure China is ahead.

Well, I guess that's one way to offset the trade imbalance.

They give us lots of cheap crap to buy at Walmart, we give them Jenna Jameson. Fair trade, IMHO.

I'm intrigued by Korea and Japan's relative position. Too lazy to look it up, but Japan has about twice as many people and Japan's GDP is probably triple Korea's, yet Korea leads them in porn consumption. Wonder what the dynamic there is.

The Chinese didn't get 1.3 billion people by accident.
