Default I'm at the end of my rope with Qwest DSL...

Three weeks ago I had my two lines consolidated into one line. I requested that the DSL, which was on the line we got rid of, be moved to the remaining line. A week later, when the change took effect, I discovered I had no internet. After speaking with several different tech support people over the course of two hours, it was discovered that they had switched me over to MSN as an ISP and that was why I had no internet. I told them to switch it to my previous ISP. They said it would take a week to provision it. After a week I still have no internet. They tell me it was provisioned, but for some reason it is still pointing to MSN. They assure me they'll fix it, but it will take three days to provsion it. It gets provisioned, but still no internet. I call back and they tell me it's still pointing to MSN as my ISP. So I tell them, "Fine keep it with MSN. I just want internet." So I set my DSL modem to connect with MSN, and I finally have internet. Now, I try to access my email client -- Mozilla's Thurnderbird, and for some reason it won't work. Microsoft's Outlook express works just fine, but I don't want to use Outlook Express. Is it possible that Microsoft would make it so that Thunderbird won't work if MSN is your ISP? Is Microsoft really that evil, or am I missing something?

At the end of your rope? Tie a knot and swing!

(One of my wife's roommates at BYU made a poster with that, on her bedroom door. <PH shivers in disgust>)

I hate Comcast with every breath I draw. I also happen to hate Qwest DSL worse than I hate Comcast. Thus, I get Comcast high-speed Internet.

Funny thing, I refuse to get Comcast cable (even though it has the MTN) and instead go for Dish Network satellite. If there ever comes up a game on the MTN that I'm desperate to see I either go to a friends house or just order it on the Internet.

Turns out it wasn't Qwest that caused the problem with Thunderbird. It was my firewall. They still won't win any awards for customer service.

We use Qwest for our POTS line. The other day they called me up and wanted me to sign up for cell phone, Internet, TV, everything. I told the dude I wasn't interested but he wouldn't give up. I finally had to get seriously rude and tell him that if they ever telemarketed me again I would cancel my phone line. Man, I hate Qwest.

I seem to remember him mentioning a change in jobs that would severely limit his online time.
