Yea, "mob" obscures what was going on in the Palmyra area. Willard Chase and his daughter and their friends had some kind of working relationship with JS to money dig. They seemed to think they should get their cut from the "gold" plates or something. This is all a bit fuzzy, but the term "mob" leads those innocent little primary kids away from the fact that the people who were after the plates had everything to do with peep stones and money digging.

yeah, the lesson manual didn't give any of those details. if I were a better teacher, perhaps I would have gone to the original sources. I'm just saying, does it always have to be a mob at every turn? It doesn't feel accurate to me.
