I have too many friends and family who are Utes to cheer against them, except where it impacts BYU.
I enjoy the guys here and elsewhere. It is good that there are effectively two staging grounds where good LDS can blend with good non LDS athletes to give a good show. It doesn't hurt that I really like Whit. The one coach who irritated me was Wayne Howard, as he made the rivalry nasty, taking the fun out of it.

I often find myself hoping the Utes win. I want them to lose to the Cougars, of course, and will cheer against them if it improves the Cougars' standing, but the Utes often strengthen our conference and build its reputation.
With another team like BYU, Utah, and TCU (and some modest overall improvement in the other teams), MWC football would be about as good as your average BCS conference during any given year. People tend to remember the top teams of the BCS conferences, but they forget the schools that don't often have great football programs: Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, UMass, Maryland, Kentucky etc. As a fan, having a rivalry with the Utes is about having fun.

Having said what i did about hoping the Utes get their buns kicked every game, I will say that I also go to 2-4 of their home games every year.
It's close to where I live and I just love college football no matter where it's being played....and as much as this kills me to say it, Rice Eccles is a very nice stadium. LES could use a facelift aesthetically.

I think a combination of the two would make for one of the prettiest stadiums in the world.

I went to the Utah-Air Force game at the U last year. I wish I could be as mature as Fuegote and say that I cheered for the U, but the closest I could get is not cheering for Air Force. Rice-Eccles is a beautiful stadium, and the backdrop is great as well. I dream of renovations to LES, because right now BYU loses the stadium battle hands down.
