There's the biggest problem with a lot of the posters on this site most interested in discussing religion. Whether it's the mullahs or the liberals, charity seems to be in short supply. If somebody is an asshole, I pay no attention to what their views are on God or the gospel. Paul said something to this affect in 1 Corinthians 13.

You have appeared here repeatedly and you post intersting content but frequently in an incredibly arrogant and rude fashion. You then typically recant, but to what end? For as smart as you are, you sure have a hard time learning from your admitted mistakes.
Thanks for posting this. Sheesh. For crying out loud.

Someone once said that if this site were ever sold, its only asset would be the Religion category. My question: who in the world would be the buyer?

FMCoug, are you saying the victims of the horrors are at fault because they don't supplicate Him and ask him to change the horror befalling them?

Are you saying that the horrors are his will for them?

It is very easy to be a chubby bankrupt living in a McMansion in wasteland suburbia Texas sucking the BBQ off your stubby fingers as you turn the pages of your Grant Von Harrison psycho-babble missionary brainwashing text and tell the world God is actively involved in their lives because you see his hand daily direct you to the best cheese fries in the lone star state or inspire you to add another worthless square foot of foyer or another foot of roof-line height to your conspicuous consumption cushion-couch existence.

You think God is active in your life because you remember you left the deep fryer on after enjoying your second breakfast of deep-fried Texas twinkies and turn around half way to the Heston Memorial gun show and brisket bake where you are hoping to pick up a .50 caliber sniper rifle. You cite this incident as proof that God is active in your life tearfully in your testimony after the travelogue of enduring the single hotel room at Corpus Christi beach with your sleep apnea mother-in-law who forced you to eat at IHOP every morning and watch her slop down a double order of the cream cheese stuffed french toast and a tall stack smothered with syrup AND strawberries.

God isn't actively intervening in the life of the 13 year old Ukrainian girl kidnapped into Turkish prostitution or the Namibian AIDS baby who dies at three years old because the local clinic ran out of medicine this month.

You think because you live a fat life of deficit spending emotional bliss God's hand is patting your ample behind as you walk down the primrose path. Maybe that patting is just your diaper full and sloshing around and God's hand isn't anywhere near your ample arse.

But I could be wrong and maybe God doesn't value agency as much as the scriptures say he does. Maybe he really is just cruel and capricious and discriminating in his love and blessings. Maybe he does resemble Genghis Khan more than Gandhi and you are right. If so, I do not long to be in his heaven.

I think there may have been a point on the topic at hand in there but it's hard to find amongst the grade school vitriol. In any case I hope you feel better now after getting that off your chest. I can assure you I don't give a shit what you think about me and like SU, I take your post as a ringing endorsement.

This thread has also reminded me why I don't participated in the Religion forum on this board. I'll go back to being one of the stupid mindless sheep and let you and thre rest of the the CG intelligentsia continue kissing each other's asses for being smarter than everyone else.

It isn't even close. It is clumsy, plods along, goes nowhere....if you are going to attempt to force your prose, at least write something funny or interesting.

Stubby fingers? Conspicuous consumption? Why all the the potshots at FM?

Some of you should not even attempt humor. Stick to pseudo-intellect.

Yes Milton Burle.

If I had found the CB post, you'd know to what I refer. It was a rant such as this, and quite pointed. It takes a while to get accustomed to Adam, he's an acquired taste. Not his best work I admit.

Besides our humor and our intellect, is there anything else you like to insult?

For the love of God what's wrong with this post? He's being satirical for a good part of it. Can't you tell? Clearly FMCoug has a thick enough skin to take it. FMCoug and the rest of you defending his obnoxious attitude remind me of the old story about Pat Robertson bragging in 1985 that the hand of God deflected Hurricane Gloria from Virginia Beach and saved his radio station, after it instead slammed into Long Island and Boston, doing $320 million worth of damage, and taking many lives.

Creekster, do you really believe that a belief that you are one of Jesus' elect such that he intervenes in your life is the essense of Christian charity? I don't believe it. That would be a pretty offensive belief. Such a belief is not only obnoxious, provincial, borderline narcissistic, and ethically immature. It is infantile. Seriously, grow up any of you who feel that way.

SU, you know somebody can differ from FM on our views toward God and still disagree with Adam's response. It wasn't satire. It was vitriol. Way too personal. I would have said the same thing had it been directed toward you.

Okay, I see your point though I didn't really recognize it as an attack on FM per se.

Dude- how could you have missed it as an attack on FM? It was over the top. Buried in there is a point, and a decent one at that, but it was too much.
