The promos have been up all over L.A. for weeks. I thought the premise looked quite promising. These luchadors are HUGE in my neighborhood. Mexican wrestling is the bomb, and all the neighborhood kids have luchador masks. As they say, the field is ripe.

I don't know why you would call it mormon cinema any more than a Labute film qualifies as Mormon cinema.

This is Mormon Cinema?

At what point is a movie "Mormon" cinema? When the story is about Mormons? When the characters include a Mormon? When the actors include Mormons? When a Mormon is among the producers? Among the viewers?

Sorry, can't agree.

Mormon cinema is anything made by Mormon artists. Dutcher, Hess, and a whole bunch of garbage.

And no that does not include Neil Labute.

Call me a Mormon homer, but I think Dutcher is a talented filmmaker.

I've only seen two of his films. They were fine, given the lack of budget, poor actors, and general inexperience.

I would like to see him continue to get work.

Speaking of crappy Mormon cinema...American Zion. The second installment of the Work and the Glory series sucks. It is so bad that I could only watch 25 minutes of it. They replaced the girl that played Lydia in the first one who I enjoyed and was much cuter. Save your money and tell your relatives in Utah not to bother buying you the DVD because you live out of state like I do.

well maybe it take it back. If Labute's stuff in the future, is infused with a Mormon sensibility or perspective, I would consider it be part of Mormon cinema. But I doubt that will be the case.

I consider Napoleon Dynamite to be part of Mormon cinema (as I choose to define it), and I enjoyed it. I hope Hess has a nice career.
