Could you point me to the locations of all the Vintage book stores? Deseret Book probably has a good sense of what their customer base will and won't buy and that helps drive the decision making over what they publish.
In fact, I'm curious how many of these manuscripts were ever submitted to Deseret Book for consideration. Last edited by Indy Coug; 02-29-2008 at 04:47 PM. |

Have they always lead the way? I mean they do have a bit of a head start on the LDS Church as far as maturing in a way that they can tolerate internal criticism.

I am wholly ignorant on this topic. What is the basis for your belief that this is so?

Catholics have to be open because until the Protestant reformation "Catholic" had no significance. When you read, say, Gibbon, and he says Christianty this and Christianity that, he's talking about the Catholic Church really. For 1500 years the history of Catholicism, or, more accurately, Christianity was Western world history, then still so but taporing off until well into the Nineteenth Century. However, I dare say that in their history "Catholics" probably burned more books than anyone except the Soviets.
