I used to be big fan of his. I even read all of his Blackford Oakes novels.

One of favorite Buckley moments was his televised debate with Gore Vidal, where Vidal called Buckley a Crypto-Nazi. Buckley responded: "Now listen, you queer, stop calling me a crypto-Nazi or I’ll sock you in your goddamn face and you’ll stay plastered."
