Default Up to 30% of current military recruits

are high school dropouts. No diploma.

So the military has an incentive program where they will give up to $40,000 in cash to enlistees that have a high school diploma and can score in the top 50% of the entrance exam.

The problem with the dropouts is that they tend not to stay in the military as long as the ones with diplomas. So the diplomaed recruits are more valuable to the military.

My brother was the top recruiter for the Air Force in the State of New York for 4 consecutive years and they simply don't accept applicants without a high school diploma.

He referred those kids to the Army, Marines or National Guard to see if they could get on there.
