Default The most popular word in Utah

Here are today's 10 "most popular" articles in the online Deseret Morning News:

1. Orem firm a front for porn?
2. 1888 Book of Mormon stolen from D.I. store
3. Sacramento's Artest goes 'whacko' late in game
4. Mormon Pop: American Idol
5. Jazz remain cool and win
6. Kirilenko plays best game of the season
7. Porn found in edited-movie shop, owner arrested, accused of having sex with minor
8. Utah Guard aims to see its own Miss America
9. Truce declared between Gold's Gym and anti-porn groups
10. Baby Harvey: American Fork couple wins round

Maybe if Utahns would find something else to talk about, it wouldn't lead the nation in google searches for x-rated search terms.

Utahns don't lead in searches for porn or x-rated terms in general. They lead the nation in searches involving the word "pornography." Which only shows that Utahn's are the worst searchers for porn in the world and incredibly formal (Kentuckans are much more informal: they lead in search for "porn"). Really, who looks for porn by using the search term "pornography" instead some much more descriptive anatomical term or some other colorful phrase for coitus. Utah doesn't lead for any of those terms.

Interesting premise.

What are they researching when they google the terms "naked girls," "striptease," "topless," "nude," and "lingerie?" They seem to lead the nation in those searches, too.

Didn't try those on google trends (apparently I didn't try enough terms). I used more explicit terms. I guess it just means they really want porn but can't bring themeselves to really go after the good stuff (Utah = "boobs" but not in the top 10 for other terms for breasts).

Utah is also number 1 in searches for "bikini", but not in the top 10 for "threesomes." Utahn's just aren't fully invested.

The google trend stuff does suggest their is a fair amount of demand for porn in Utah but it is not clear that they are leading the nation. Maybe they lead the nation in porn searches involving relatively tame search terms.
