Good people in a hurry rely upon bad sources and information. One good thing about academia and law, or many professions, is the requirement to rely upon good information.

I remember being fed the Alexander Fleming-Winston Churchhill bs in bishopric meaning by my neighbor, an accountant.

I didn't have the heart to embarrass him with this, http://www.snopes.com/glurge/fleming.asp

That quote is an urban legend. There was even a blurb in the Church News a few years ago saying so. Two weeks later, my bishop read the quote in SM.

But hey I'm sure your SP was inspired as he wrote his talk, right? If you are in a singles ward with 15 active elders, maybe he'll be equally inspired to form a high priests group out of 3 of them.

Any other Steelblue links that you'd like me to click on for you?

You know, I always wonder how these things start. It sure would be interesting to trace this one down to its source.

That would be a great article, though probably difficult to research.
But if we found the fellow, we could Ex him dumbing down the church, or maybe enjoy a laugh in our smoking jackets as mused upon the results....
