Default Going backpacking in Big Bend State Park

Rancherias trail in a couple of weeks.

I went to REI to try on all their hiking shoes. The Asolo's fit my feet the best. They had one of their better shoes on sale, but out of stock at the store. So I ordered online. I'll be getting shoes (knock on wood) a couple of days before departure. But I don't think these shoes need much of a breakin (taking moleskin).

Also just ordered trekking poles. Though it seems sort of silly, I am told they are very useful for this rocky up and down terrain.

I'm debating taking my SLR camera. Heavy, but the pics could be glorious.
