Nebraska did also go the the BCS NC game in 2001 season after losing badly to Colorado and therefore not even going to the Big 12 championship game. Nebraska got pounded by Miami in the Rose Bowl championship game. Colorado beat Texas in the B12 championship to go to the Fiesta Bowl.

Colorado was scary good at the end of that season. They were the hottest team in the country the entire second half of the year and likely would have given Miami all that they could handle in NC game, if given the chance.

That is a nice theory, except Colorado got throttled by the #2 team in the country in the Fiesta Bowl. So I doubt they would have done much against Miami.

The Fiesta Bowl is clearly a set-up by the SEC to keep the Big 12 from proving itself as the sport's most dominant conference. That's the only conceivable explanation for the outcomes.

Do you mean Pac 10? Those seem to be the teams that humiliate Big 12 teams in Bowl games. Well I guess the SEC does too. Maybe it is a joint Pac 10/SEC venture.

Nonono, we don't PLAY the SEC in the Fiesta Bowl. But the Big 12 is the primary competition for the SEC for the mythical title of "strongest conference in college football." So see the SEC's got the bowl games all fixed up to undermine our attempts to lay claim to the title of best conference.

See? They thought no one would catch on but you can't outsmart batgirl. Nosirree.

The BCS results from the past 10 years tell us two things:
-The Big 12 gets the most love in being selected for the title game
-If there were a conspiracy to keep the SEC on top, there are three conferences who appear to be a bigger threat than the Big 12, based on winning percentages.

"Championship game" appearances by conference:
5 Big 12
4 SEC
3 ACC
3 Big East
3 Big 10
2 Pac 10

Winning percentage by conference:
.738 SEC 11-4
.667 Pac 10 8-4
.600 Big East 6-4
.488 Big 10 8-9
.429 Big 12 6-8
.100 ACC 1-9
-------------
1.00 MWC 1-0
.500 WAC 1-1
.000 Notre Dame 0-3

-------------------------------------
