Default About the wolf

I spoke to my father about it. As I have mentioned before, my bloodlines run into Star Valley.

He said that when his mother was growing up, there was a lot of fear of wolves. Due to the destruction they could wreak on very poor families that struggled every year.

He said that as a kid, when he visited Star Valley, wolves had been wiped out long before. They were not even a consideration. This would be in the 1950s.

....
We are not talking about starving families. We are talking about millionaire ranchers on federal land.

Times have changed. And the wolf is back, to stay.

You throw Star Valley around like it gives you authority. But your use of the term "Millionaire Rancher" betrays you as a fraud and a fake. You have no idea what's going on out in the country. Your father, gone from there these many years, has no idea. You're good friends at the Sierra Club have no idea. Why don't you let those who actually know what the hell they're doing handle matters? Or is that against your liberal big city ethos? The one that drives you to meddle in things beyond your knowing.

Away with you, you're out of your depth here.

COme on landpoke, we know what's best for you. If you were really smart you wouldn't still be in Wyoming, so let us who have left tell you how to do it.

Et tu monkey man? It's going to be hard to drive home tonight with this dagger in my back.

Not that it matters, but I'm part of the great Wyoming anaspora. A mighty tidal wave of intelligence and talent that's crashing back into the state. We will not be condescended to.

See, it's all a persecution complex and the abhorrence of having several interested parties make decisions on a national issue that locals view as a completely local issue. The want everybody gone from the table but themselves.

It's like trying to kick the owner of a house out of the decisionmaking loop for how the house will be run.

Sure: the feds stole it fair and square so who can complain. Of course you talk about the feds like it is a benevolent parent when it is really a sniveling deskmonkey who may or may not have his head where the sun is shining. Why shouldn't it be local? The house next door to me is owned by a guy who lives in saudia arabia (really). Thank goodness he delegated decision making to a local property manager or it would be a disaster dealing with the house and his tenants.

Sometimes persecution complezes arise from real persecution.

Pure tripe.

Shows how ignorant you are: the wolf recovery program was not conceived or implemented by snivelly bureaucrats, but by an increidbly large amalgam of groups and voices -- including many ranchers. This is public decisionmaking at its best. It's just that people like Landpoke can't stand -- it almost makes GoatNapper lose his taste for plastic -- the fact that other vested interests took part in the discussion. Interests who are no AWOL in some foreign land, but who have sunk a ton of resources, time, and energy into making the house beautiful.

Landpoke's no democrat -- he's an autocrat.

I haven't followed this entire debate too closely, so forgive me. But are you arguing that all (or a majority) of ranchers are millionaires?

Were we talking exclusively about the wolf recovery program? Apart from the title of the thread, it seems not. I am not familiar with the details of the program, but I am familiar wiht the ferderal government's willingness to dictate to westerners what should be done with their lands. I concur that some compromises are necessary, but I think locals should have a signficant say and to suggest that ranchers all desecrate the land by the nature of their enterprise (as I perceive you have done, admitting I have only skimmed your posts) is, likewise, pure tripe. Maybe the wolf should be introduced. Maybe this will be good in the long run. Maybe the intruoduction needs ot be more moderate. Either way, I prefer that the locals have the most say in the administration of the plan. That's all.

Btw, there are mnay posts showing how ignorant I am, so you should probabyl try a little harder to insult me.
