Default I just met a Scouting Zealot

This is not just a guy who likes Scouting. He is a wacko. He is a cross between a 1950s John Bircher and a sadistic seminary teacher.

The guy comes home from work and puts on his Scout uniform.

He kept calling the Cub Scout leader, a woman, "hon" (as in "honey" for short). She isn't his wife and she's asked him to stop (on a prior occasion, I was told). He won't. He just rolls his eyes at her.

And then there's the double think: Boys, you are in charge of the troop. But if you don't go along with this 10 page plan for the next year, or come up with better things on the spot, you're in for a browbeating like you can't imagine. But you are in charge of the troop!

I am soooooooo glad that I was only at the meeting representing the YM.

Something needs to be done about this guy. I'm guessing medication would be a good start.

Sounds awesome. Boys will have stories to tell for the rest of their lives. "Remember the time crazy Br. so-and-so told us to...."

Guys in my current ward talk about their scoutmaster from 20 years ago. He kept about 25 guns in his home, in random places like under potted plants, in couch cushions, etc. Vietnam Vet, with bad PTSD. The boys talk of him fondly, while telling us how crazy he was.

i think he lived in my ward when i was in orange county a few years ago.

if he starts calling one of the scouts 'canteen boy', you need to get worried.

for right now, laugh at him.

An excellent point. My favorite half year of seminary was when I had Lingo's dad for a teacher.
