This sounds like a boondoggle that could bankrupt the state.

Poseur! Bullfrog is one word.

Powell is terrific. Lots of great fun to be had there, especially taking the boat up the little tributaries that are everywhere there and finding some cliffs from which to dive.

You are most correct about the name.

Pal is the best.

Powell is fun, but only once in a great while. I've spent a couple weeks on a houseboat down there, and by the end of the week I had had enough. But it's fun for 2-3 days. It's absolute hell sleeping at night, though.

Anybody who hates on Powell, you're not doing it right.

Complaining about eating cooler food for a week? Our typical menu includes Steak and Baked Potato, Enchiladas, Tacos, Stromboli and Fajitas.

You beat the heat by getting out and wakeboarding, waterskiing, air chairing, cliff jumping, etc. Or even go sight seeing. Most of the canyons are pretty well shaded and you can access most of the cool sights pretty close to a boat.

To answer Mike's question, most boats have fans, some have AC, but if you're smart, you sleep on top of the houseboat. Typically we just sleep with a bed sheet over you, although sometimes a blanket works as well. And if you play as hard as we do, you usually have no problem sleeping at night. And if you wake up early enough, you are rewarded with perfect glassy water to ski/board that makes it worth it.

I guess I am firmly in the camp of LOVING Powell... and I guess I'm kinda glad if you're not. The Lake gets crowded at times anyways, so I'm fine if you stay away.

My mom once rode the tube behind the houseboat from Slick Rock into Bullfrog marina. I believe my dad has Air Chaired behind the houseboat, although it was boring as hell but he did it just to say he did.

I can't imagine a Houseboat pulling a skiier. That would be a pretty funny sight.
