Default back from campout today (July)

Small turnout, only 3 boys. Heat wasn't too bad as the sun set. It was dryer than normal. Fished a bit.

Decided to sleep under the stars to take advantage of a slight breeze. It was forecast to be 86 degrees at 11pm. Problem was I was getting buzzed by skeeters.

So I set up my tent, no fly. I laid in my tent, down to my underwear, sweating. There was a breeze, but I couldn't feel it. The walls of my tent would move, but nothing. So I got back up and put the batteries in my portable fan. Turned it on, and finally fell asleep.

I had a small sense of nostalgia as I camped. It might very well be my last campout with the troop. In just over 2 years, I have camped about 46 nights with the troop. You don't do something that often, and just go cold turkey.

I will miss the camping. But not the July and August camping.

Welcome back.

I hear you about it being difficult to just up and quit camping. For me, the toughest part would be two-fold:

Sleeping under the stars and the silence. I love how quiet it can be when out camping.

I forgot to mention that when I layed down, my sheet had many fire ants on it.

They got me good.

You take sheets with you when you go camping? Did you also remember the doilies for the picnic table?

lately yes. I dare say I have camped more than you in the past 2+ years, and in hot weather laying on a sheet is much preferable to laying on a sleeping bag. But then again you don't know humidity. Never met it.
