"We thought the bike was of no use to anybody" that's why we too it even though Marks used wire cutters to free it. Huh? A bike locked up is abandoned?

why aren't the police prosecuting? so that they don't discourage future criminals who may have evidence, from coming forward?

Prosecuting for this wouldn't help anyone. |

lest these two be considered "good guys" remember that they lawyered up first and it was their lawyer who instructed they go to the police. |

As for going to a lawyer ... that was a smart move, considering they knew they had committed petty larceny. I'd probably have gone to a lawyer too if I knew I'd committed a crime. As I said, I'm not defending these two. It was a stupid thing to do. But prosecuting isn't going to do any good or bring any justice. It just sounds like a page out of MikeWaters-style vindictiveness to me. PS. It's too bad the guy wasn't a BYU football player. Then he'd have lots of support, eh? |

I get punished for going 7 MPH over the speed limit, and this guy gets nothing for cutting a lock and stealing a bike?

I read somewhere that the kids said both of the bike tires were flat, and it looked like it had been there for a while and abandoned.
Personally I think it was a stupid decision on their part to take the bike, but how many of us did some stupid regrettable things when we were 17-19? Only difference is that our mistakes didn't make the papers. |

Kudos for them for coming forward in the end, but they were obviously petty thieves. Glad to read that his mother yelled at him for four hours.
