Default Bodies, the Exhibition

Anybody seen this exhibit?

http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/

We caught the San Diego exhibit yesterday. Pretty fascinating. Ironically, the only one in the family to get woozy was Yours Truly. Perhaps seeing all those men with their junk sliced open was too much for me. I had to keep taking deep breaths.

I wonder where they get all the bodies? It looked like they were mostly oriental. I told the kids that they go into poor towns in China and tell people that if they will donate their bodies to the exhibit that they will pay their poor surviving family members $100,000. If they say yes, then they give them a poison pill to take. They didn't buy it. They are getting too old to fool anymore.

Last time we were in Vegas my wife really wanted to see that exhibit. I said no way. I'll admit I don't think I can handle it. She said she thought it would be fascinating and help her come to terms with death. I'm still not sure how that would work.

The source of the bodies has been a matter of some controversy. Many of the bodies apparently belonged to chinese convicts, some of whom (and perhaps most of whom) were executed. The 'artist' that makes the exhibit asserts thta all of the persons consented to their bodies being used in the exhibit but there have been a number of questions raised about this, as it appears that once they are executed the chinese governemt does pretty much whatever it wants ot do with them. I am too lazy to look, but I am sure you can find these sotries on the web.

I have yet to see the exhibit much to my great disappointment. I have been in three cities the least few years where it has been showing and have failed to go see it, includign San Francisco, which is not far from my home. Oh well.

I saw it in Vegas back in March while down there for the MWC Bball Tourney.

Eh...it was okay. I don't get as fascinated by that stuff as some people do.

I was bored and went through it pretty quick.

The part with very small fetuses.....was pretty disturbing to me.

Re-affirmed my position in how I feel how about abortion, that's for sure.

You're a twisted man. Great imagination.

In China, things like this are probably close to the truth. Child slavery, infanticide, etc.

Sadly. Life is cheap.

Went in Vegas with my wife. It was interesting but I am still not sold that at least half if not more of the stuff is fake.

Looked real to me, but what do I know?

It's basically a glorified cadaver lab.
