I am trying to get into UFC
But I don't understand all the different leagues. I take it the UFC is the premier league? Or are their sanctioned bouts like in boxing? Are their certain weight classes that have the best guys? I guess what I am asking is, where can I go to understand what the hell is going on or can someone clue me in. I am a late adopter of this sport as I thought is was too brutal back in the unregulated days. Thanks for any info.

Stay away from this sport, Coach. You'll get your ass kicked.

The UFC is by far the top organization in the world it is the NFL, NBA, MLB etc. There are other organizations out there but they are not as large as the UFC. All events are sanctioned by the state athletic commissions. Each organization has differing weight classes but all are pretty close. UFC weight classes are as follows: Lightweight: 155 Welterweight: 170 Middleweight: 185 Light Heavyweight: 205 Heavyweight over 205 but less than 265. The UFC does have rules as well unlike the old days, no eye gouging, groin shots, hair pulling, knees to the head on the ground. A few good websites to follow mma are: www.mmaweekly.com www.mmamania.com www.fiveouncesofpain.com www.mmajunkie.com www.sherdog.com One of the best ways to learn about it is to watch it with people that follow the sport. If you live in Utah let me know, we are getting together for the Couture vs Lesnar fight on November 15th, that will be a good fight to get your feet wet.

I am in Utah County. If you're inviting, I am interested.
Also who is the joker in the tapout commercials with the face paint? Does he fight or is he the ultimate warrior of the MMA?

Hmm, never thought of it like that. Do gay guys usually kick the shit out of each other before sex?
