A friend of mine (Jim Swarthout on this board) introduced me to BYU message boards in 2000. I can't remember the name of it, but the first one I posted on was a low traffic site run by some grouchy old guy, then on to cougartalk, then byuboard and now here. I'm done with cougarboard, but these are some of the moments I remember most there:
  • Kugrmaniac challenging WYO to a fight, wanting to meet at a Buger King in Evanston, Wyoming.
  • Chris Burgess' older brother is a close friend of mine and I introduced him to byuboard in summer of 2000 and he loved it, for a short while anyway. Later I deeply regretted that decision because of the bitter things BYU fans would post about Chris starting fall of '00, his first season at Utah. For awhile I would send El Jefe messages asking him to remove posts, which he would do, but I couldn't keep up. I was surprised David ended up committing to BYU.
  • Grapevine thought "crap" was the "c-word": http://www.cougarboard.com/noframes/...tml?id=1087032
  • Y'zGuy asking for money so that he could quit his job to live his lifelong dream of being a BYU football manager.
  • The alleged suicide of GayCougar.

There was another dude that disappeared off the board, then a relative showed up and said "he died, he really loved this place, I thought I would check it out". His brother. Sort of sounded like a suicide, but we never found out.

You're riling up of the Crowtonites was highly entertaining for a Ute fan. Great stuff.

It is a shame that you missed the good ol' days at utefans. You would have fit in perfectly and would have been welcomed with open arms.

PAC mentioned Senoritis. This is a guy who called Coug "Coug Sharpton". Here are a few of his gems from '02 or so (this was the tail end of the golden age there so it's not as good as it as early on, but still fun stuff):

I found Cougartalk and BYUBoard in the late 90's when I was a freshman in college. Used the name JohnnyLingo from the start, even though I'd never seen the movie at that time.

I got back from my mission in 2002 and looked for the boards, but found Cougartalk had another meaning.

I managed to wander over to Cougarboard and joined up a couple weeks later. After making 19,000 posts there, I got the full santos for not getting along with the mods. The turning point was when Pete banned me for three days after I responded to a Waters posts with "troll."

I've been a refugee here at CG ever since, much to Waters' chagrin.

I started way back when there was Cougarblue,,then Cougarblue II...etc..etc..etc...

Clearly I need help.

My ex-fiance who I'm still really good friends with....everyone once in while when I tell her about something new I learned....she'll mockingly say..."What did you learn that from your nerdy BYU online buddies?"

She knows me way too well.

Started off on ESPN. Spent a ton of time on realgm.com on the Lakers site. Visited cougarfan for awhile and then CB. I haven't posted on CB in a long time.

UtahDan introduced me to all these boards. I pretty much have him to blame/credit for some of the good and most of the bad things I've ever learned or done in my short 28 years on earth.

Mrs SMR will ask if I'm talking to my "boyfriends". It's simple, not very clever, but extremely effective. It pisses me off and I generally end up turning off the computer - which is exactly what she wants.
