Also keep in mind that they basically go and hear firesides/devotionals for 2 days straight about being a good LDS mother

Red Death is just bitter cause he's a time-out for woman widower like me as both our wives at the conference in Toronto and staying over night.

As my wife's childhood best friend is want to say; "every day is Father's Day, there is no need to designate a specific date." Let them get out of the house and have a weekend away from the kids Red Death -nut up man!

I'm all for having a weekend away. its the "I'm paying $50 for Johnbytheway to sing them some corny song and tell them to be "mothers who know" that I think is stupid and actually kind of wrong.

Tooblue and I know a place that used to self help for people using religious motifs. The church promptly told its members not to go to this program due to it being a form of priestcraft. Now a business the church owns is running these things and making bank

$50 a pop 1300 attendees... 26 a year You do the math...

The MAJOR difference is that the self-help organization using religious motifs sells itself as a form legit clinical 'therapy' and targets youth with serious behavioral problems etc. Time-out for woman is basically an EFY for woman

Ok, I did the math.

50x1300x26 = 1,690,000.

Now what should I do?

And I'd be pissed about my wife spending 50 bucks to hear John Bytheway too. 50 bucks to hear Robert Kirby would be ok.

I'm with you. These bother me too, especially when the flyers get passed around Relief Society, as if it's something we should make an effort to attend. Not all women can afford to blow 50 bucks to attend a motivational fireside and I don't think they should feel pressured to.

Personally, I have no desire to attend my stake's women's conference next Saturday, which is free, let alone having to pay for a similar event.

I'd certainly like a "timeout" though... For 50 bucks I could at least get a facial at a spa.

Our SP put out an APB telling members not to bear testimony of Impact from the pulpit and it threw a few families off their game. They were pissed and didn't come to church for a while.
