Seems like a better life for the lad, regardless of the cause. His parents sure didn't seem able to get him an education.

Thus, I might look to other factors like, say, corruption in local and national government, or perhaps population density compared to arable land, as having a bigger effect on the underlying causes of poverty in Indonesia. |
