If there is a more tasteless response to this tragedy than this one, I can't think of it.

What is crazy is that someone got the picture when they did. Unreal. It really captures the devastation and tragedy of the whole affair. I will say, it is a bit disconcerting that there was a policecar right next to the riders. I would imagine that the police car was the escort for the riders. It makes you wonder if the drunk swerved to miss the police car and hit the riders instead (defeating the purpose of the escort). I imagine the policeman is feeling pretty miserable today (not blaming him, just noting that I would guess he is second-guessing his actions).

Also, if you look at the picture, the speed limit is 60 (kph I guess) on that road, so the drunk was probably moving very quickly in the opposite direction of bikers who were also likely traveling very quickly. It is amazing only one has died so far.

So very sad. I can't believe people drink and then get behind the wheel of a car. Utter irresponsibility.

That was your exact response to a similar episode in California. So it was tasteful when you made it, but tasteless when I refer to it?

It was not my "exact" response. But it's instructive to know you'd prefer to use a tragedy to pick a fight, unprovoked.

Of course, unless I used your exact words, you will bicker. I found your response as offensive then as I do now.

Fine. Go be offended. Doesn't mean you have to be a jerk every time a tragedy like this happens.

If you don't wish for others to be jerky about your jerk responses, then stop the initial jerk responses. That will settle it.
