Don't get me started on John Bytheway. He dated my cousin for a while (she ended up marrying his roommate). He dumped her, telling her that he didn't think she was good enough for him.
So... what part of that do you have a problem with? The dumping? The telling her she wasn't good enough? The fact that she's your cousin?

You can't tell me you never did that when you were still single. Maybe being so blunt about it is offensive, but at least it was honest.

That's more than I can say about a lot of Mormon singles.

I think that he's pretty good and effective for the Youth of the church who sometimes need someone to tell them to be good in a "cool" "hip" way. He even gets away with telling people about what he had wished he'd known before he was Single, Married etc...but I think most adults in the church don't buy his act and think of him as a bit of a tool. That's why he's a perfect fit to teach B.O.M to freshmen at BYU...they still think he's cool.

I tend to agree. If you're 12-14 years old and one of only three Mormons in your middle school where the dominant "cool" group is into all things counter to what is taught at home (the popular gift a boy gives a girl being thong underwear), his shtick can be quite reassuring. But if you're 40+ and have already plotted your course in life, then it all seems very silly.

It serves a purpose. I just always wondered if he had a cousin named Bob Ontheotherhand.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

I know this was asked a while back, but I don't come here very often. I host CougarStats for Sea Chicken. You'll notice he has a link to CougarBoard on his site. It's a quid pro quo thing, or whatever the appropriate latin phrase is.
