Deron Williams broke Jerry Sloan

and Sloan has retired. I'm stunned.

I grew up a Rockets fan. And then became a Jazz fan during my time in Utah with Stockton and Malone. Since Stockton and Malone left Utah, I've become less interested in the NBA. Kind of a Jazz fan, kind of a Mavs fan, kind of no fan at all.

But I always associated the Jazz with Sloan, and I liked Sloan.

Now that Sloan is gone, I don't give a damn about the Jazz.

I think we have encapsulated the problems of the NBA into this one incident.

Bye-bye Jerry, thanks for the memories. There were some really good times.

I saw a Utes fan begging Sloan to come coach for the Utes, in the article comments section. LOL. Maybe Sloan will go coach the Wyoming Cowboys.

When you think about it, Sloan's controlling approach is more suited to the college game, ala Bobby Knight.

The more you think about the D. Will trade, the less it makes sense for the Utah Jazz, if for one primary reason: the Jazz just got blacker!

Ok, I kid. I make this point because it is just rampant on the internet tubes that the Jazz can never resist taking white players at any opportunity.

Basis in reality? Maybe, maybe not. Perception? Definitely.

If you know you won't keep him in 2012, you trade for players you might keep, some cash and some draft picks. The Jazz are unlikely to retain a star player, as those guys tend to want to be in LA, Miami, New York or Atlanta. So you have to draft for them instead of imploding as the Cav's did when Lebron left. Be worse this year, than to be horrible in years to come.

The logic makes sense. If the Jazz drafted whiter, which I am not saying they do, it might be because they have a better chance of retaining them through free agency. Just a thought.
