Default Hurray the Winter Olympics are almost here!!!!

Not. I hate the winter olympics. With the figure skating "drama", the x-games snowboarder tricks. The endless "personal profiles" that NBC is going to trot in front of us. Those especially make me want to throw up.

What do I like? Eddie the Eagle. That's it. The only decent moment in the last 50 years of Winter Olympics.

Do you believe in miracles? Yes. A meteor landing in Vancouver during February would be a welcome one.

You are now despicable.

The WO rock, simply rock, aside from figure skating.

What you don't like hocky, skiing or speed skating? It's awesome, dude. But what would a transplant from Montana to Texas know about winter. We forgive you, we really do.

Vancouver becoming the next Port-au-Prince would bring you happiness?

Hockey--dumb game that Canadians and northern liberals play. Requires loads of equipment and ice rink. Sport of the elite.

Skiing--requires mountain and expensive equipment. Sport of the elite.

Speed skating--this is actually the least elite, because people can do in-line skating and practice somewhat that way. But it's a sport of the eurotrash. Therefore, fail.

The Winter Olympics is the time that white people get together and pat themselves on their backs for their "prowess".

While the blacks in Haiti die, the whites in Vancouver will be partying and playing their fancy elite, specialty sports, but will no doubt, have a moment of silence and Bob Costas will speak with a lump in his throat, an effect he has crafted with years of practice in midget school.

I always assumed that the Winter Olympics was largely a branding exercise for the Summer Olympics....a placeholder to ensure that segments of each generation do not grow up totally disinterested in the commercialism of the Olympic movement. They stick the odd Winter games in there to remind everyone that Summer games are only 2 years away.

I don't understand the concentrated appeal in things such as figure skating. Why don't these activities hold anybody's interest outside of 2 weeks every four years?

Admittedly, I enjoy the more bizarre events, such as the one the combines X-country skiing and shooting guns.
